This webinar presented the International Tamil Academy's curriculum, growth, and digital innovations in Tamil heritage education. Speakers outlined K–12 programs, ACTFL-aligned instruction, AI-driven tools, volunteer-led operations, and ITA's expansion across the U.S. and multiple countries.

This Webinar, presented by the International Tamil Academy (ITA) team, focused on their curriculum and digital innovation in Tamil heritage language education. The presenters -- Vetriselvi (Selvi) Rajamanickam, Sathish Kumar Rajendiran, Sashi Vaidyanathan, and Andy Nallappan -- shared how ITA has grown from 13 students in 1998 to serving 18,767 students across 95 affiliated schools in 22 U.S. states and six countries in 2026. They detailed their K-8 program structure, high school credit program, and the development of their AI-native educational ecosystem called Ariwom, which includes tools like smart pens, an AI-based word bank, and immersive learning platforms. They explained that their curriculum follows ACTFL standards and includes both structured and progressive learning approaches, with students meeting once weekly for 1.5 hours in K-8 programs and 4.5 hours weekly in high school credit programs. They discussed how the organization is self-funded through registration fees, with all teachers and administrators volunteering their time, and addressed questions about assessment methods, age-level placement, and the mapping between their grade levels and ACTFL proficiency levels.
